Virtual Medical Receptionist (Remote)
We are seeking a reliable, organized, and compassionate Virtual Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing scheduling, communications, and administrative tasks in a remote environment during US office hours.
The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting.
Responsibilities
Answer incoming calls professionally and courteously.
Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
Verify patient demographics and insurance information.
Respond to patient inquiries via phone, email, and secure messaging.
Route calls and messages to providers and clinical staff.
Process appointment cancellations and waitlists.
Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Process faxes and create new patient charts
Collect and document patient information while maintaining confidentiality.
Assist with referral coordination and medical records requests.
Follow HIPAA guidelines and practice policies at all times.
Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Reliable high-speed internet and a quiet, private home office
Position requires candidates to use their own computer and internet service. Company equipment is not provided.
Preferred
Experience with insurance verification and prior authorizations.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Experience with platforms such as, eClinicalWorks, Kareo, Epic, or similar EMR systems.
